Bridal Alterations with a Careful Fitting Plan

Every garment begins with an inspection of the fabric, construction, seam allowances, and the fit you want to achieve. That first review helps define what can be adjusted, what may need a staged approach, and how many fittings are likely to be required.

For bridal gowns, the usual process includes an initial fitting, a staged quote and deadline plan, approved alterations, and one or more intermediate fittings before the final check. The number of appointments depends on the dress and the work involved.

Clear assessments, staged fittings, and alterations planned around your event date.

Canoe Stitch focuses on bridal and occasionwear alterations that are reviewed in person before any quote is confirmed.

Common requests include hem and train adjustment, bodice and strap refitting, bustle and fastening adjustment, and occasion-dress alterations. Where available, thread and trim matching is considered during the planning stage, but exact matches cannot be promised until materials are confirmed.

To keep the process realistic, the studio recommends booking several weeks ahead of the event. A workback plan is used to align fitting dates with the garment’s construction and the time needed for each alteration stage.
